Mother’s Day

I was going to write something profound about Mother’s Day and being mom enough, but it’s 11:05 and I’m watching Nora bounce up and down on the couch singing songs so the most I can muster is a run down of our lovely weekend, starting with yesterday’s picnic

 and afternoon at the beach

when Nora plopped down next to me on the beach towel, took my hand, looked into my eyes and said, “I’m keeping you safe…my friend.”

 Yes, my heart melted.

Then today’s super satisfying yoga class followed by a bicycle date

with my little girl for smoothies and lunch at The Green,

followed by a trip to the playground where she climbed up and over everything, rode a seahorse

and showed off her new-found bravery:

finally, she’s not afraid of slides!

We came home, had a long afternoon siesta, before deciding to make blueberry muffins to eat with dinner (why not!) and playing for hours.  This weekend was just about perfect in every way.  I didn’t get any work done at all and a few things were not quite as expected (like the lack of sleepiness at bedtime tonight and no time for a thoughtful blog post) but, that comes with the motherhood territory.  Maybe tomorrow I’ll get writing and working in…in the meantime, I’m going to go tickle a toddler in an attempt to wear her out.

  1. Amber,
What a perfect way to spend your weekend! Enjoy your time with Nora before preschool schedules and more schedules. There will always be work, but not a little girl who says “you’re my friend.”
